Proclamation
„Hear a just cause, O Lord, attend to my cry;
Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips.
Let my vindication come from Your presence;
Let Your eyes look on the things that are upright”
Book of Psalms, Psalm 17, 1st and 2nd Verse
PROCLAMATION
We are gathered here today, on the first day of September 2012, on the Day of Truth in Sfântu Gheorghe, representing the entire Hungarian community from Romania, to protest against the injustice we have suffered.
We stand against the renationalization attempt of the Székely Mikó High School. We protest against the unjust verdict in the case of Markó Attila, Marosán Tamás and Silviu Clim members of the National Restitution Committee! It is deeply unacceptable that they were sentenced to imprisonment for fulfilling their duties.
We find it outrageous that the Romanian state repeatedly attempts to deprive our community of its heritage. We demand that the Romanian authorities urgently stop the abusive renationalization of the Székely Mikó High School.
We request the diplomatic community, the international institutions and the human rights organizations to closely monitor the restitution process in Romania. We consider that the decision of the Court leads to a dangerous precedent: the restitution process will be ceased, meaning that thousands of Church and community estates will not be returned to their righteous owners and even the already restituted properties will be threatened.
We stand here today united by our cause and with hope in our hearts we turn to all religious communities, our fellow Romanian citizens and their representatives to support our claims:
- applying the principles of the state of law,
- immediate implementation of the „restitutio in integrum”,
- immediate ceasing of the renationalization attempts,
- remediation of the unjust decision of the Court.
- Romania’s obligation to honor the commitments assumed by the accession to the EU,
1st September 2012, Sfântu Gheorghe
