The president of the Democratic Alliance of the Hungarians in Romania, Hunor Kelemen, and the president of FUEN, Hans Heinrich Hansen went to Kiel, the capital of Schleswig-Holstein for a working visit with the Minister for Justice, Culture and European Affairs, Anke Spoorendonk. Hunor Kelemen has been Minister of Culture in the Romanian Government.
Jannewietske de Vries, the president of the Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity (NPLD) joined as the seventh member the citizen’s commitee of the European Citizen’s Initiative founded by the RMDSZ (Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania), the FUEN (Federal Union of European Nationalities) and the SVP (South Tyrolean People's Party).
The founding partners of the Minority European Citizens Initiative have met the Minister-President of the German-speaking Community of Belgium yesterday, April 29, 2013 inBrussels. Mr. Karl-Heinz Lambertz declared in the meeting that he accepts the invitation to join the seven members of the Citizens Committee of the Minority ECI. The leader of the German-speaking Community inBelgiumexplained that the initiative is a huge chance for minorities to get European answers to their concerns.

The Federal Union in European Nationalities (FUEN), the largest European umbrella organization of the national minorities is deeply concerned about recent developments regarding national minority rights in Romania, where the government repealed an already legally consecrated minority right, by the withdrawal of a government resolution on the creation of a Hungarian language faculty within the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Târgu Mureș - Marosvásárhely.
