The level of youth unemployment has reached 23% in the European Union, while in some member states the number of people between the age of 16 and 25 is above 50%. The resolution adopted on Thursday, 17th of July by the European Parliament finds that youth unemployment of this magnitude has never been seen in the EU and that there is a need to address this issue on an EU and member state level.

The president of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania, Hunor Kelemen, has signed on Monday, January 14, 2013 in South Tirol a partnership agreement on the preparation of a European citizens’ initiative, with Richard Theiner, the chairman of the Südtiroler Volkspartei (South Tyrolean People’s Party) and with Hans Heinrich Hansen, the president of the Federeal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN).

On December 17, the Council of the Alliance’s Representatives was held in Sfantu Gheorghe, where the DAHR strategy proposal for Internal Diaspora as well as the strategy for implementation of political measures of families was adopted. At the beginning of the meeting, the “Silver Pine” award was distinguished.
The Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania has started a series of public consultations under the title Transylvanian Hungarian Civic Consultation, in order to implicate Hungarian non-governmental organizations from Transylvania into the legislative process, because it is important that the practical experience of these organizations to be reflected by the legislation as well.
