The ethnic Hungarian community of Romania has kept its strong representation in the Romanian Parliament

The Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania has secured 18 mandates in the Chamber of Deputies and 9 mandates in the Senate  –  Péter Kovács, the Secretary General of the Alliance declared at Cluj last week, explaining that both those areas that are inhabited by a majority of ethnic Hungarians and those where the population is mixed or where ethnic Hungarians live in minority have secured DAHR MP’s

Due to the redistribution of the votes, Timiş County also has a DAHR MP in the person of Zsolt Molnár, the youngest  - 29 year old - representative of the Alliance earning a mandate in the Chamber of Deputies. For Maramureş County the parliamentary representation has also been preserved -  in the person of István Bónis. Cluj County has won back a mandate in the Senate with Attila László. However, among the losses are to be counted Arad and Braşov Counties, as well as a mandate in the Senate for Mureş County.
